'Carved Memory' by Nickie Hayden, OPW State Art Collection
This beautiful painting was acquired by the Office of Public Work (OPW) in February 2023 which means that it is now in the art collection of the Irish State.

Quite a unique oeuvre with its magical combination of oil with heat and chemical patina on copper, Carved Memory exudes calm and serenity. It has always been a conversation piece amongst many visitors to our gallery. At the OCG, we always knew that this painting would eventually find a good home to go to.

Nickie Hayden has been a member of our Associate Gallery Artists (AGA) group since 2019. Her work is included in many private and public collections such as The National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin, Department of Foreign Affairs, National Irish Bank, Allied Irish Banks, Halford and Hutchinson Films, Informix Software, Intel Ireland Ltd, Mespil Hotel, The Rochestown Lodge, Tara Investment Ltd, Lorcan Lyons Associates, Citibank, Enterprise Trade, Cantrell and Crowley Architects, Robinson-O’Keefe-Devane Architects, St. Mary’s College Rathmines, Enterprise Ireland (Dublin, Zurich, Stokholm, Boston and Dusseldorf) and The Ark, Dublin.

The artist has participated in many group shows at the OCG and her first solo exhibition with us, Sanctuary, took place in 2019. At the time of these notes being written, Nickie Hayden is preparing for her second solo show, titled Safe Harbour, which will open on 9 April 2023.
