Taking down of 'An Choill'

'An Choill', an installation of 64 painted lengths of rice paper, was part of 'Deireadh Fómhair', Eoin Mac Lochlainn's solo exhibition at the gallery. The show ran from 21st of October to 2nd of December 2018.

In attendance Olivier Cornet (gallerist/curator), Eoin Mac Lochlainn (artist/curator), Claire Halpin (artist/curator), Susanne Wawra (artist), Ben Readman (artist), and Mike Coyne (chair).

Concerning the Other is a collaborative curatorial project curated by Olivier Cornet, Claire Halpin and Eoin Mac Lochlainn. Artists participating in this project: Brian Fay, Claire Halpin, James Hanley, Joanna Kidney, Eoin Mac Lochlainn, Miriam McConnon, Kate Murphy, Ben Readman, Gail Ritchie and Susanne Wawra.

The Meeting

Olivier Cornet Gallery, August 2017

An exhibition curated by County Laois Arts Officer Muireann Ni Chonailll and gallerist Olivier Cornet. The Meeting ran at the Olivier Cornet Gallery from 6th August to 3rd September 2017 (after being shown at Laois Arthouse in Stradbally in July) featured work by David Fox, Aileen Hamilton, Darina Meagher and Vicky Smith.

Explorations in Wood

Olivier Cornet Gallery, 11-28 july 2017.

Hugh Cummins's solo exhibition was a reflection of the artist's eclectic approach to working with wood which embraces and harnesses its inherent challenging properties of strength and versatility. The show included many different species such as Ash, Bird’s-eye Maple, Burr Elm, Cherry, Curly Maple, Fumed Eucalyptus, Indian Rosewood, Movingui, Rosewood, Sycamore, Teak, Walnut, Wenge and Zebrano."

Bardo

Olivier Cornet Gallery, 5th February - 12 March 2017.

Aishling Conroy's solo exhibition followed a six-month residency at the Laois Arthouse where she developed the work for Bardo. During her residency, the new body of work that evolved was informed by and made in response to the Patrick Scott Archive, recently bequeathed to The National Irish Visual Arts Library.

Opening of Claire Halpin's solo show Glomar Response with guest speaker Brian Fay

The artist's body of work attempted to navigate the complexity of the contemporary theatre of war as battlefield expands to battlespace in the information age. The means, methods and technologies of modern warfare from mass clandestine surveillance programmes to unmanned warfare and its real time reporting through the lens of the media.

The Easter Rising, an artists' perspective, National Heritage Week

An artist panel discussion chaired by Marcus Howard with Pamela de Brí, Claire Halpin, Kelly Ratchford, Eoin Mac Lochlainn and Olivier Cornet.
The talk was about our show "Republic", a reflection on the 1916 Easter Rising (see the film below). The exhibition featured artwork by some of the relatives of those who were executed in 1916. The artists gave insight into their work dealing with topics such as the children who lost their lives in 1916 and Arbour Hill, where the 1916 leaders are buried.

Republic

Olivier Cornet Gallery, 10th July - 30th August 2016.

Curated by Eoin Mac Lochlainn and Olivier Cornet, Republic was a group exhibition commemorating those who died in the struggle for Irish freedom and was also a meditation on the goals of the “Proclamation of the Irish Republic” and how or whether the artists thought that these goals had been fulfilled. The show featured work by gallery artists Claire Halpin, Eoin Mac Lochlainn, Yanny Petters, Kelly Ratchford and invited artists David Fox, Beatrice O'Connell, John O'Grady, Eve Parnell, Mary Plunkett and Lorcan Walshe.
