In the summer of 2018, the Olivier Cornet Gallery presented 'Chiens Bleus, Chiens Gris', a comic book and exhibition about the life and death of Francis Régeard during World War I, by the artist LEYHO, his great-grandnephew.

The exhibition also included a series of WWI photographs by François Bost, Olivier Cornet’s great-granduncle who was enlisted in the Photographic Section of the French Army during WW1 and who ‘followed’ the Battle of the Somme.

Olivier also commissioned Robert Russell, artist and director of the Graphic Studio Dublin, to create 3 photo intaglios (edition of 25 each) from a selection of his relative’s photographs. These prints were produced on a traditional etching press.

We were delighted when the OPW purchased a copy of the Nieuport Plane print ('François Bost Collection I') for the collection of the Irish State in 2018 and equally pleased when, in 2019, Air Lease Corporation decided to acquire a copy of each of the 3 prints for their offices in Dublin.

'François Bost Collection I' (Nieuport Plane) also entered the collection of the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin in October 2020.

In December 2020, another copy of 'François Bost Collection I' (Nieuport Plane) entered the collection of the Contemporary Irish Art Society (CIAS). Through the latter organisation, and in the form of a permanent loan, another copy of  'François Bost Collection I' (Nieuport Plane) entered the collection of the Irish Air Corps Museum (Casement Aerodrome) in Baldonnel, Co. Dublin in January 2022.

These 3 prints have been well documented in various reviews: One by the Irish Times art critic Aidan Dunne, the other by the internationally-known journalist Robert Fisk who came to see the exhibition. You can find links to the reviews on the Chiens Bleus, Chiens Gris exhibition page.

These prints are selling at 110 euro each unframed and some copies are still available. François Bost's album is available for viewing at the gallery on request. Private or corporate print commissions on other photos in the album would be considered too. Don't hesitate to ask.
