Conrad Frankel's new show Silent Light launches at Olivier Cornet Gallery
"...In the turbulent times we live in, needless to say, it has felt good to look at light falling upon things, to meditate on form, texture and colour..."
The Olivier Cornet Gallery is delighted to present
Silent Light
Conrad Frankel's new solo show.
This exhibition confirms the artist's renewed interest in still life paintings as was clear in his
show last year.
In 2018, when reviewing the artist's solo show 'Road Trip' for The Irish Times, art critic Aidan Dunne stated that 'Frankel’s landscapes are modest, considered, beautifully judged and classical.' Later that year, the same art critic included the show in his round-up of the best exhibitions of 2018. The same balanced comment could be made of this sumptuous series of new oil paintings featuring objects such as a roman lamp, a butter 'church' box and various funnels, all rendered in the artist's unique style. Fruits of predilection such as lemons also feature but have at times given way to luscious strawberries.
"...In the turbulent times we live in, needless to say, it has felt good to look at light falling upon things, to meditate on form, texture and colour. Gravity and shadows are the secret ingredient in still life paintings, and from them light is cast and forms arise..."
For more information and to read the artist's full statement on his new body of work, please visit the Silent Light exhibition page. The show will also features in our 3D Virtual Space hosted by Kunstmatrix.
All welcome to the opening at 6:30 pm on Thursday 21 May 2026. We are delighted to announce that the exhibition will be launched by Max McGuinness, Research Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow in French at Trinity College Dublin and theatre critic for The Irish Times.
