Mary A. Fitzgerald's vibrant painting was acquired by the Office of Public Works (OPW) during Dublin Gallery Weekend 2025 which took place from the 6th of November to the 9th of November 2025.

The painting, an acrylic on canvas, measures 100 x 100 cm. It is titled 'A Fancy'. It was part of our group show Ode to Giants, an exhibition featuring artists' responses to favourite artworks in Dublin museums, which we hosted in our gallery from the 7th of November to the 7th of December 2025. 

Mary A. Fitzgerald created this work in response to Jack B. Yeats' painting ‘About to Write a letter’, 1935, oil on canvas, 61x91cm, collection of the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin.
