National Heritage Week 2025 with David Fox
Exploring our foundations...

The theme for National Heritage Week 2025 is “Exploring Our Foundations”, a theme which, as the organisation puts it on their website, encourages us "to delve into the building blocks of our heritage; not just the structures, but the landscapes and cultural activities that have shaped us. Heritage isn’t just bricks and stones; it’s traditions, landscapes, skills, and stories that impact on us and our communities."
As the theme of National Heritage Week 2025 is centred around Foundations and their exploration, we have invited the artist David Fox, a member of our AGA group, to reflect on a recent painting of his, a large work measuring 122x92cm and featuring a walking platform across a mountainscape in Slieve Blooms.
The artist is currently writing a short essay about this work in the context of this year's theme for National Heritage Week 2025. The text will be published on our website on Saturday 16 August. It will also be available at the gallery where visitors will be able to admire the painting in question, alongside other recent paintings by the artist.
Visitors will also be able to see our current group show on the theme of Art Deco: ‘Out of Lines’ which also features a new work by the artist.
